In most cases those are lies, and we all know it. Just say the truth..

If someone's going to leave, he's going to leave--doesn't much matter what he says. I agree it's amusing when the player provides a clearly made-up excuse, but at the same time if he's having a bad day on EQ (we've all been there) there's no reason to rant or burn bridges. Of course, on a related note, most of us likely know a few players who *always* leave the instant things turn sour or go slow but who consistently stick around to collect loot when things are going well. This latter group of players tend to be universally reviled by their guildmates.
