Pantheon Gameplay

I'm just hoping its more like EQ and less like Vanguard. New stuff is fine, but I don't want an open world wow clone.

They are already moving in the right direction with no quest progression, but they need to follow through and keep stiff death penalty and not compromise in all the places Vanguard did.

The closer Pantheon is to the mainstream, the harder it will be for the game to stand out.

They stated it won't have anything to tell you what npc gives quest, and that you have to figure it out. Course... Mu belief is they end up selling it when they run out of funding aka Sigil 2.0

Ya they have lots of great ideas like the way they are doing quests. The articles about Climates, Perception and Conversation Paths all sounds great. Then on the other hand they bring up stuff like collecting pets and trying to bring back shit ideas from vanguard like caravans.

It almost sounds like their money man is feeding them bad $ ideas and they are trying to find a middle ground. Maybe they can appease him but it will only lead to more and more convenience if they compromise. That and the whole pet thing looks like ground work for a cash shop.

They have to stand firm on their EQ principles if Pantheon is going to be special. Vanguard, for all its great ideas, was too close to the mainstream.

I'd take a Vanguard clone over most mmos today. Tried to get back into Tera... Game is garbage. Though Tera has more subs than Wow does, Overseas that is...

As long as McQuad isn't hopped up on hillbilly heroin this time around, Pantheon has a chance. It also will be necessary for him to not sell out and then bail right as the game is unexpectedly released. Otherwise, his plan to make a modern EQ1 is a good one.

They've been blitzing mmorpg.com with updates and write ups on game systems and mechanics. Hopefully it helps.

Best thing they could do tho is add options for pledges under $100. Id guess they lost out on thousands of pledges due to this amateur mistake. Only a serious eq/vg fan is going to drop twice the box price of a game helping crowdfund an indie project.
