i don't actually care how my fellow denizens of red "feel" about this, unless you can make a truly compelling argument for how yellow text helps more than it hurts pvp. i'm interested in more pvp, not less. i want people to stop plugging so much and actually be willing to eat a death once in a while.

there are benefits to yellow text for sure, and i enjoy handing them out also, but i see a problem with them and a problem with the general server environment that i didn't experience on live. part of it is because we have so many people from jersey on the server, and i have a sneaking suspicion that many of you play EverQuest with ankle bracelets on but that is beside the point -- there are mechanics to the server that are contributing to the toxicity and i'm not buying the arguments for them.

I'm not reading all that shit for you to repeat yourself. I've said my stance and not only do the GMs agree with me, but majority of the server does aswell. Good day

Anything that encourages people to run from PvP instead of fighting it out, like YT, is bad.

During the arduous grind through level 45, farming Mistmoore gargs, /ooc shenanigans was one of the things that kept me sane.

no, everyone pretty much knows where there is gonna be pvp already. in the zones where the loot is, you don't need yellow text to tell you that. pvp happens in oot, lodi windows, pvp happens at druid rings, pvp happens at loot camps and leveling zones.

your argument works agains you because you can't have a covert ganking squad at druid portals either because yellow text lets people know not to port there, lets people know when it's a good time to go to mistmoore to level (lots of yellow text in mistmoore? don't go to mistmoore) you are fooling yourself if you think everyone on this server is constantly searching for pvp. yes lots of people enjoy it, but lots also do not, plenty of people on live enjoyed playing on a pvp server without being a pker.

if you need yellow text to tell you if your "friend" died rather than your friend telling you then they probably are not your friends. it's not necessary at all, and even if i conceded the point that it shows where pvp is happening then my point still stands, and everyone knows its true that people plug incessantly to avoid being yellow texted. it's like the walk of shame.

your conclusion doesn't follow from your premise, i don't see how removing yellow text would make red a "ghost town" anymore than it already is. if you aren't excessively stupid you can find pvp, if I'm spoiling for a fight i can gate to oot, or go look for the guy camping swarm mother. or wait at the commons rings, or any number of places that you know from experience that people inhabit. yellow text hurts pvp just as much as it helps.

Anti-plugging code was rumored/talked about... better than removing the yellow text.

Also whoever said this was the blue server forum? Still reads as "General Community" <3

This forum is entitled "Server Chat".

Ironically, there is an entire sub-forum for Red ... "PvP Server Chat"

It's right here, in case you missed it:

https://www.project1999.com/forums/f...splay.php?f=54

That forum was specifically created so red bullshit doesn't have to be monitored by the general community (the 90-95% of project 1999 players that play on blue).

As an aside ... leaderboards, K/D ratio, and yellow text will be actively harmful to any pvp community. People get so obsessed over their pixels (be it gear or arbitrary numerical ratios that can be rubbed in their face) that having them present will end up making a pvp environment LESS fun and less immersive.

If people aren't scared of yellow text they might stop plugging.
