Forum warriors frequently claim 8-10% body fat in their pics while at 12-15% BF. The FAT look doesn't start until you get a few clicks over 15%, depending on other appearance factors like skin thickness/texture and water retention, and becomes legit fatass status at 18% and over. This is assuming good genetics. Someone could have 13-15% and look like shit, and another guy could be rocking solid abs.

My point is people who whine about BMI being a bad metric are just looking for an excuse. BMI works just fine for the vast majority of the population.

I am 6'2 and the BMI says I can be 150 pounds before I'm underweight, which demonstrates the absolute failure of using the BMI index to determine anything to do with appearance or health. Kinda irresponsible of the military and health organization to religiously follow this system that everyones eyes can see doesn't work. A healthy weight for me is about 215 pounds and I need to be 225 to be "average" musculature of a 5'7-5'10 guy. I prefer 240. My doctor one year dubbed me underweight at 200 pounds and said he would be looking to see some gains next year. tl;dr BMI index is trash and has nothing to do with bodyfat or shape unless youre a manlet. Calipers also junk.

99% of the time they are lying. You aren't single digit body fat and playing EQ regularly. Way too much time needs to be invested...not only in the gym, but in the kitchen.

EQ fat is easily determined though...

I have only met a few people who were actually single digit body fat. I never got below low double digits even in my prime. If you're in single digits normally then a doctor has probably suggested different ways to eat to try and put on weight. Even professionals don't remain in single digits all the time if at all. Like someone above posted you can look amazing and still not be in single digits. I am referring to body fat % btw not BMI. BMI has always been flawed.
And yes the tape tests the military uses were flawed recruiters used to and may still tell people to do things like dehydrate, suck in, or use diuretics to help pass the tape tests. Some of that is also true for caliper tests. Do not take my post as negative towards anyone I would never call someone else fat nor any other derogatory term.
