I didn't mean to suggest people were actually petitioning about this, I apologise. I was more going for the case of attempting to address the "problem" ourselves, before the flaming torches and pitchforks come out and the cry goes up for GM intervention :-)

3) Have a chat window for /random, and minimise it.
Why should I have to go out of my way because someone else is spamming? Besides is there even a clear random filter for the chatbox or do you then move a bunch of different messages into that window?

I also don't understand the "ignore" argument. There are many situations where ignore might help, but this is the only instance in which it is the acceptable solution to many people. Other stuff that you could simply ignore would definitely result in bans.

Casinos are just preying on the stupid, like lottery is a tax on stupidity. They don't add anything else to the game and only take money from stupid people. I already see that happening often enough IRL.

Yes, there is a filter for /random.

If it doesn't "add anything to the game", why does there seem to be a market for it? "The game" is more than just the client/server mechanics, it's the social interactions too.

It amuses me to think in a game centred around risk versus reward, that the concept of a casino is thought of as preying on the stupid.

I'm glad you are applying what you think this game should be to every other single person that plays it. Because you know, we all don't have different views on what makes this game fun, right? Good job.

What I think is even funnier is that I, as well as many of my players, can be in EC tunnel for 10 hours straight, just to have people like Quineloe come up, and after being there for 2 mins wants to tell us what can and can't be done in EC tunnel.

I'm not sorry that just because while running through EC Tunnel, hitting your "d00d SoW pleez" and "WTS banded 2pp per ac" macros that you think you are being inconvienenced by a few randoms and chat over the casino. Most people who stand there all day end up saying, "Hey you know what, I'm bored, lets roll some dice for fun."

Also I guess Tizzle was my prey when she walked away yesterday up 200pp from me. How about Len who walked away with 800pp up on me. Go tell them they are stupid, at least they can pay for their SoW d00d pleez spam.

/cheers

So in 10 hours 2 people won? I don't know how much business you had but that doesn't sound very enticing.

My problem is less with the actual gambling casino money trade and more about the spam, I have 3 chat windows and when im in ec they usually look like say/tell, guildchat, and auction window.

having to CONSTANTLY scroll up in a window to read missed chat because 2 or 3 people are just
/rand
/rand
/rand
/rand
/rand

gets annoying very quickly, I don't like putting people on ignore that I don't know you lose out on a lot that way but I'm not going to sit there and try and read the 1 or 2 messages hidden in a wall of random spam.

I don't see why the pro casino players are getting so defensive over a few /ignores. if you sit in a group of people and start spamming Expect it, its going to happen and if YOU don't like that then YOU can move.

All casino announcement names go on the ignore list right away. Keeps the spam down, and unheard on live I never ran into a situation where I needed to talk with them anyway. That's what ignore is mostly for as I use it.

There are no significant social interactions with a level 1 character

Yes, we've never seen that one before.
your tall tales of GM endorsement of your spam are even less believable.

It's not the lvl 1 casino runners I have a problem ignoring, its the people that are playing the games, anyone from 1-50 could potentially be ignored for it.

possible loss of groups, or EC sale items, ports, buffs...anything

Sometimes I take these people off of ignore at the end of the day but honestly i just dont remember to

Then there is always the problem that my ignore list is too full from the days of Global OOC...
