New to the forum/project. Have the Devs made any legitimate posts about a Re99 server? I pretty much only played during the original game (dabbled in Kunark, never played in Velious), so a legit fresh server appeals to me immensely. I'd be curious if it was actually going to happen or if it's N+6 months down the road.

I think I'm going to end up going Necro, or Druid. What class/race combo are you guys going to go, and what's your plan to get to 50?
As someone who experienced the last 2 phases of the EverQuest beta as well as the retail launch, I would probably take the easy route and roll a caster. The first character I rolled under these conditions was a troll SK and it completely broke me. I will never roll a non-twinked melee class again.

I think an untwinked warrior has to be the worst - warriors were pretty awful to play in EQ in general, but with good twink gear from later expansions they were pretty fun since you did a lot of damage and got dual wield early on.

I can't imagine doing a fresh server with classic rules as a warrior...although if you have a dedicated group I guess anything is fun.

I will not be going for the huge items, manastone etc. and I will not be concerned about raids or getting uber loot. I will just be trying to group up and level and have some fun. Won't even care about being max level. This is one server that for the most part I will probably have a bunch of alts under lvl 30 and no main. Probably roll a dwarf cleric or dwarf paladin. Group oriented classes for sure.

Unfortunately you are in the minority on this server.

Heck with the recycle, it needs to be a stand-alone server. Of course all of the uber items will be camped mostly 24/7 - I'm sure the same was true when this server was brought up, though I barely see any rubicite. (somehow belt/cloak are in though, which I didn't think came back until the cazic re-vamp)

I'm more curious about the patch time-line and what bugs will be allowed to stick around till officially fixed.

Depended on the item. In the early days P1999 only had a small population. Manastones were camped pretty heavily, but not so heavily that the camp didn't open most days at some point or another**. I'd put it on par with something like FBSS nowdays. Guises rotted regularly and most everyone who wanted one, had one. I *didn't* care about getting one and ended up with one anyway simply because they rotted so often. Rubicite wasn't farmed heavily because CT was very broken and few people wanted to put up with the hassle of bothering with it. Also fine plate armor was available anyway.

Danth

**A lot of those early manastones were heavily farmed by cheaters and ended up going off the server due to various ban waves. some folks had bags full of them only to wind up banned. As such, while manastones still aren't particularly rare, they're not so common as folks might expect, either.
