That's about as silly as suggesting you should be running this game in windows 3 on a 14.4k modem that you connect through AOL for those classic feels

I have use this in the past to keep track of haste on pet or for root on a SK mob for Theft of Thought in Charasis.

http://www.online-stopwatch.com/stay-on-top-stopwatch/

There is also a countdown timer which is nice for putting on 6 seconds to know when to sit for med ticks.

there's about 1 second of server side math lag, so you have to be careful, and remain seated for 1-1.5seconds instead of the 0.1-0.5 seconds that you could do on live

often if you sit for a med tick and then instantly stand, that tick will show you gaining the bonus mana, then on the next tick it'll be retroactively removed... this can even cause you to barely have enough mana for a spell, cast the spell, then get an error message at the end of the casting time saying the spell was cancelled because you didn't have enough mana.

just putting this here in case anyone didn't already know this stuff.

Heh, you got it right, they are running the classic EQ to the point where you will stare at a book when medding, and have all your buttons on the left and right and a single chat at the bottom.

That really IS their stated goal, so you all should get ready for that.

They are going to be slavishly holding to this classic standard, they have dug around on EQemu's site, and if you read those forums you should know they are learning the coding and client manipulation needed to achieve the total classic immersion.

The way I see it, the choice is stay or go. I'm new so I really don't mind playing around with other options out there. All you that have so much invested, well de-invest! Find something more aligned with what you want or get a group going here in this forum to volunteer your time and effort to someone that wants to run a server to give you what you really want.

I'm looking toward other servers, and maybe even will investigate running my own, its not really all that hard, especially if the players get together and volunteer to help with the server's management.

This server is just a bunch of sweet bro's getting together and recreating the old, old, old days of their youth. Nothing says you can't all get together and do the same, at a slightly different time period. They really don't give a rip about your complaints.

Pretty sure it was not long after Velious launched, or maybe even before - they added the /hitsmode command to the UI. It gave you a CLI method to move combat spam out of your main window and into a new window that you could define. You had to define the x and y coordinates, maybe width and height, and how abbreviated you wanted the text to be... e.g. the full 'You pierce a tundra kodiak for 40 points of damage.' could be shortened to 'Pierce tundra kodiak for 40', or even just '40'.

edit: hmmm... Monkly Business post puts it in the vicinity of 3/21/2002
