Recently joined, but due to the recycle server, I find it hard to play blue.

The right thing. Quicker leveling, fewer camp lawyers, a closer community. Starting with nothing is the true classic experience.

A lot of people turn up on blue looking for that classic experience but quickly get hold of some cheap/free items and twink up... that's not easy on red by any means.

I get what you're saying. However, I'm in the mood to play a Magician. I believe leveling one, only to have to do it again, may burn me out. So, I am just going to end up picking a class I have never had an interest in.

A wizard would get you around a lot quicker, porting people might make you some plat...and the pvp is fun too depending on the situation.

One time I ported a guy into the spires in Gfay, then another wizard in pvp range ported in on 40% health...I'd already started casting before he'd noticed, but he tried to run away at a weird angle, hit his jboots just before the nuke killed him.

1. Recycle server is a minimum of 2-3 years from now, much longer if the kunark era has taught us anything.

2. Playing on the recycle server isn't a requirement, I doubt everyone will play on it. Personally I'm just looking at it as a way to get free manastones down the line [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

3. You might want to play a mage now, 2-3 years from now? You might find yourself wanting to play something else. People make alts for a reason :3

4. All characters from the recycle server will eventually be merged into the current blue server (from what they said on stream anyway), so technically THIS is where all characters end up anyway!

I'm somewhat surprised at their lack of wanting to bring in a Teams server. Would definitely fix a lot of the hangups that people have starting on Red and would fix a lot of the "zerg" issues, I'd think.

EDIT: To be fair, I'm sure they WANT to, but Velious is priority. I wonder how long though...

Is anyone else in the same boat as I? I was leveling an Ogre Shaman as my first character on this server and was having quite a bit of fun. I hit 16, caved in and made a Magician (my favorite class), and started leveling when I heard the announcement that there would be a fresh server released.

I was extremely excited about the server at first, despite knowing that it will probably released quite some time for now, but now I find myself not wanting to level anything and to just wait for the recycle server.

I'm really in the mood to EQ, but when I can't even choose character names that I want (due to the eventual merge of recycle and blue), it just feels odd playing. Don't get me wrong, if I had started a long time ago I would definitely be pumped up for Velious. But with nothing invested here, the only thing I am excited for is the new server.

I think I watched the same feed as everyone else, I don't recall them every stating that there would be a new server from scratch. I missed something??

I believe he is referring to the allusion to a green99 recycle server that would roll into blue99 after a period of time.

OP, I'm not sure why you are upset? As others have stated the Recycle server is likely years away. Also it is not as if the characters you make now will be deleted or anything, just the Recycle server will get combined in with current Blue99.
