Saw a good tweet people killing Carroll but had they scored that no timeout by belichick would be almost as terrible a call

I get why Pete Carroll is getting burned by that passing call but it is only getting so much criticism because it had the worst possible outcome. What was it, 2nd down? They had 3 chances to get a couple yards but probably only enough time on the clock for 2 runs and 1 pass play with 1 timeout left.

Russell should have been more sure of his pass and just thrown it away if there was any question but that is a tough split second decision to make. It was a good hard fought interception.

It was really just a bonehead call. If you have an average running back, I can see making that call. However, they have the best RB in the league right now, and he had just gotten 5 hard fought yards. If anything they should have run a bootleg and let Wilson use his legs if he had to. Much less risky.

There is also the possibility that the receiver he chose was not one of the intended first or second reads. The play could have been drawn up to be a corner fade, or a quick out and Wilson just chose to react to what looked like an open receiver.
