Bump.

No mention of this ever dropping before Velious
Not used in any Kunark quest or tradeskills
Lumped together in item ID with Velious meats.

Tl;Dr - All existing Meats need to be removed from game or turned into steaks so that we don't have an extremely unclassic flood of 500 Othmir Prexus Totems on launch.

Terrorantula silks were not retroactively removed; I don't see any reason why sea dragon meat would be.

I cannot speak to the Terrorantula Silk.

However those 3 meats listed, are ONLY used in Velious recipes or quests. There is no mention of any of them being dropped by any Kunark mobs before Velious. And they are all together in the item DB.

So those 3 should not exist until Velious. I would suggest the removal of all of these meats from the game if possible. Having 200+ Othmir Prexus Totems created immediately upon Velious launch would be way too unclassic and devalue the item far too much.

That's it as far as I can tell with some quick checks Nilbog.

I do think Sea Dragon Meat is mostly sitting in guild banks, as I've never seen it for sale. I have, however, seen people buying terrorantula silks (including one guy last night). Just FYI.

For uncraftable items which shouldn't yet be available.. like these meats, or silks, etc... I am considering replacing them with a general nonspecific item which is no rent/no trade.

With this change, I would also limit the drops to an era-appropriate time so no more could obtained until then.

In the past for items such as blue diamond jewelry, I created an alternate item which will become that item again when the time arrives. I believe that was fair because the needed components were always available. For component drops such as meat and silk, I think they should be eradicated.

If anyone knows of any more, I will be revisiting this thread, and compiling a list for changes.

Unfortunately I can't prohibit people from buying or selling out of era items. Hopefully they aren't too upset if/when they disappear or are modified.

I agree with Vega. Considering the length of time that these meats have been in game and used the fact that they have been used as a commodity. It would make more sense to remove them from loot tables starting now than punish those that spent time, money and effort to buy an item that (as far as anyone could tell until this time) was a perfectly legit drop. From what I understand blue diamond gear and cultural armor was stockpiled before any type of removal from the server and these items were not retroactively removed from inventories.

Making something easier than it should be (like pre-enchanting ore), is not equivalent to having access to a best-tradeable range item x 300 the second Velious goes live. Cultural armor was classic and did exist to some extent in this era.

No one should have access to that totem until they kill Kelorek Dar or Faydedar AFTER Velious.

Allowing 300 of them to stay on the server and immediately get transformed into Totems when Velious launches would be dumb. Dunno why you think it would be fine to allow a great Velious item to be manufactured hugely the day Velious releases due to a bug.

I'm definitely not arguing for that. I am arguing that precedence has already been set, and for consistency.
