The only turned based game I miss is HOMM3 multiplayer/hotseat with friends. The ice giants were OP with their lightening bolt!!! the trade off was that you're sub soliders were pretty weak and had to pray that you didnt lose to much upgrading up till the point where you had ice/titan giants.

Something happened there with turnbased games after that era and they pushed for more "graphical" development over game play - I guess that's actually a symptom of most genre's for that era.

civ is good, just don't buy the xbox version fro ma few years ago because it has a built in turn restriction that you can't disable; which is pain in the arse because I have been at the brink of totally destruction of my enemies and it just stops the game irregardless.
