The mentality that the red server is going to grow if people stop attacking eachother (the draw of it being a pvp server) is really bizarre.

The 1-50 experience here is about as accommodating and blue as it gets. There's very little pvp and basically everyone groups. Most people are friendly.

Could make a decent argument that the lack of pvp is to the detriment of player experience.

Theres a huge difference between pvping, pvping for PVE camps, and saying repeatedly on forums that your explicit goal is to "grief people off the server" with the xp loss mechanic and bind camping people for hours to delevel them.

Its just that now the server is full of assholes after pop was drained of "normals" by said grief and staleness of raid scene in 2012 (all a consequence of xp loss in pvp).

Theres nothing to do but pvp on an EQ emu really, and that should have been understood from day 1 instead of trying to implement that ridic blue poop camp mechanic called xp loss in pvp that made the server 10 times as boring and empty of pvping than Rallos was, and were not even talking about the many other problems that this mechanic left on for so long engendered.

Basically now they are lamenting the behavior of the players that the staff helped put in a dominant position with the server rules they had in place in the first years of the server. Hes right, griefing noobs in rags isnt gonna help the pop, but nothing much can help the pop at this point since assholes had 3 years of gear farm, armed to the teeth and bored with nothing to do with pvp.

The problem is a lack of pop, and sure, how alot of players on red are assholes. But had to do something about it before the pop went from 600 to 100.

Theres a lack of looking in the mirror at the mistakes they made that put the server in the state it is now and much easier to blame the toxic players (they dont help either).

Red is probably broken beyond repair but theyd be doing themselves a service to have a hard honest assesment of what happened if they ever plan on doing another server, or an emu of another MMO.
