I would gladly go through another Katrina rather than to go through a tornado, volcano, or earthquake.
I usually sleep through hurricanes

You haven't live til you have to take a canoe to get home from the bus stop after school. Living in PA have gone through: Countless floods(Lived 300 ft from a river for 15 years), Many Hurricane's(andrew, bob(i think it was) and a few others over the years), 2 Small Earthquakes(Large enough i felt them and was like "WTF"), and i saw a few tornadoes over the years(nothing as large as what you would see in texas i'm sure).

I lived in Galena, MD during Sandy. I lived in a cabin about 20 feet above the water. Thankfully the water never came up that high, but our dock was completely enveloped in water. Also, our satellite dish is hooked up to the dock, so it was pretty much covered, but surprisingly we never even lost service =p

I've had more run-ins with man-made disasters than natural ones. I would love to witness a tornado, though.

I slept in my car with my dog through weakened Katrina (by the time it reached around the Hattiesburg, MS area). Damn shelter didn't allow pets. Would do again.

I live through four seasons every year: Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Tornado. A few years ago, my sister and her family were out of town, so when things started looking serious, my dad and I went to pick up their two large dogs and put them in my parents' backyard with their two smaller dogs. Conditions outside built to torrential rain and wind, then we lost the tv signal and finally power. Last we'd heard, a bad tornado was coming in our direction from the west, so we decided it was time for the storm shelter. Wrangling four wet, freaked out dogs into a shelter is not fun. Neither is spending over an hour with them in close confines. By the time it sounded safe to come out, it was still raining, and getting two large dogs out of a storm shelter when they don't want to go is even more difficult than getting them in while it's storming. We were lucky, though, because although that tornado dissipated, the same storm system spawned one that caused a lot of destruction in Moore, OK. I have a friend who lives two houses down from homes that were completely destroyed, along with the elementary school that was across the street. His house had a lot of damage, but not enough to be totaled by the insurance company. :\

Sometimes I wonder about the weather nerds that get to name hurricanes. Is it after an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend? Their mamas? Someone they secretly lust after?

Waiting for one to be named after me. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

About Syria...

If these fuckers are killed by women they won't make it to paradise. I would so take advantage of that.
