TAKP open alpha has been p fun, I would say one of the biggest things going for them is the client. Its just that much more classic ironically haha.

But from what I gathered from their forums they are not looking to do a "true to the era" style progression so much as removing conveniences later added in. It appears to me that they are going to progress in the same fashion as Sony did on their prog servers: take the current server and remove later era material until the xpac for said content is completed.

So yes, *eventually* they'll probably be the most true to era PoP server, with a few mac chars having the option to transfer from tgc that were saved from mac just prior to shutdown from what I understand

They haven't been too clear about whats going to happen with the mac char transfers but my hope would be that they'd just let tgc chars xfer too, got a rogue there I'd love to have on mac [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Classic through PoP is my favorite timeframe. I really enjoyed Luclin and PoP (I also really enjoy Classic / Kunark / Velious), after that the game was much too bloated / over the top that it wasnt enjoyable anymore. This would also give people the ability to "stay classic" if they wanted. They dont have to level past 60 if they dont want, they dont have to spend AA if they dont want, they dont have to go to Luclin or PoP if they dont want..... it'd be a lot of fun IMO.

Completely agreed though, resurrect AK and enable PC clients, and charge subscriptions, it'd be a win.

I wouldn't mind playing on a PoP server just for the raid content. Never had the chance to experience it.

That's too bad. PoP raiding was amazing.

In a way though, I wouldn't mind seeing wiz and drui ports disabled for a week, then I could turn my anon/rp off and camp in peace [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

But other than that, the post was blather...
Launch state doesn't matter etc. This is classic, not eternal launch, and not instant travel for sure. The world is still big here and people are more inclined to stay in one place for a time and socialize as they hunt rather than ping ponging form place to place.

I would play on Grand Creation (and i'm sure a lot of others would too) if there was a no-boxing rule.

Well, there were some guilds in there that were anti-multibox. Not everyone multi-boxed and there was quite a bit of controversy over too many people multi-boxing. The years I played on the server, from launch to... still once in a while, I was about 50% of the time multi-boxing (most often with my druids), and that usually only with two characters, duoing and sometimes grouping with other players.

Server is pretty much empty now, so doesn't matter much anyway. I'm talking years ago... five, six, eight years ago. It's been pretty quiet there for some years. I never multi-boxed on live, played for six years there before going to the emu, but I did in UO live at the time while I had my EQ sub going. So really, it just doesn't matter, it's not like 1k+ logged in there any longer, you will hardly see anyone let alone get griefed by a train of multi-boxed bards hah.

None of the other servers have any pop.

Yeah they do, during peak. Couple or few @ ~200+ and/or on weekends. It's not like p99 is maxed out like any of the original live servers anyway, just too many people consolidating in a few select zones here. But there has been largely a pop shift to p99 leaving far less players on the other servers as it used to be. But "none having any", not a true statement.
