LOL! That one is so ingrained in my mind, I still somewhat believed it when I started playing on this server. I've since figured it out again [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Hmm! Okay, so I stand corrected. It existed but (to my knowledge) was not actually implemented in a widespread way. I never really bought into the whole thing at the time. Nothing I ever saw anyone do in terms of anti-camp radius, looting corpses, etc. ever had an effect upon chances for rare spawns / drops. It was fun to try since some of those camps tended to make people go crazy (Drelzna is the worst camp I can remember but oh the joy when she had those boots! because I could finally leave that little room and it's horrid wall paintings)

Changing melee position during fights could end a bad row of misses! lol...

Sitting at exact spawn spot of a mob would prevent the mob from spawning...

Thinking that you could actually forget memmed spells (turns out I accidently right clicked the spell icons once in a while [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] )

I heard the same lol.

I always thought that distance to a mob was important when swinging a weapon. When I played one of my two alts, a lvl 10 dwarf warrior, I was compelled to keep his axe swinging through the target lest I miss hits. It was weird because some times when I scooted it, it worked for 3 or 4 swings lol.

I also believed this!

A couple of other things:

Turn "Hit Misses" OFF in the settings would actually make you hit more.

Also believed that a low level version of Firiona Vie would spawn in the FV Fort a couple of times a year and would drop a random kunark epic weapon.

Higher values in dmg/delay means better, even on delay. Someone had given me FS morning star, I vendored it and bought a rusty morning star and was like "great deal ho-ho-ho!".

Threateningly-conning mobs do not attack you unless you do something to "provoke" them.

Getting banned means banded armor. No, rly.

Crypt mummies are lvl50.

Others can loot my corpse. I'd run to weird places in Feerrott to die where no one else could find my body and loot it.

The stupidest thing that I believed about EQ back in its early days was that it was a nearly perfect MMO. Well... lemme expound a bit...

I believed that I had found a wonderful artificial world, filled with all sorts of fascinating challenges and like-minded comrades. I believed that the "magic" of EQ would endure, because anything as good as EQ was would be respected and preserved by its developers and players alike. Only a crazy person would mess with success, right..?

But then along came SOE in late 2002, and everything went straight into the shitter. By the time the GoD expansion was rolled out by SOE only a few months later (SOE released something like FIVE expansions within a six-month time frame after assuming control), I just couldn't take it anymore. Everything that I had loved about the core of this game had devolved into a dumbed-down, ez-mode craptastic for "casuals" and kids. The community became less cohesive, the game itself became incredibly marginalized and an increasingly large percentage of EQ players were of the "Gimmee gimmee gimmee NOW!" variety. All because of the influence of SOE.

I did learn something from that experience, though. I learned that whenever a publisher uses the phrase "We're working hard to make this game be more accessible," what that actually translates into is "We're dumbing this game down and adding tons of fast food rewards -- because we want those kiddie dollars."

Long live the emulated servers. I'll never play on "live" again... not even for free. The EQ that I fell in love with no longer exists, thanks to John Smedley and his ass-raping marketing staff.

"Begging skill is great for aggro generation."

I'd like to see more on this.

I believed there was not Prince Kyrmit in Lake Raithe in the early days because I never saw him no matter how many times i killed gnolls there. Guess I was wrong.
