The first 6-9 forgotten realm books by R.A. Salvatore are enjoyable reads. He played EverQuest back in the day and the books / world has a very EQ feel to it.
The Dragonlance series mentioned is also pretty good. If you want that 'pure fantasy' feel they are both good choices. If you're an avid or experienced reader then you may enjoy some of Guy Gavriel Kay's work more. He has several stand alone historical fiction-esq fantasy novels set in the same Universe and then a high fantasy series called "The Fionavar Tapestry". | ||
