I just came to Red 99 after installing the game again, I am gonna be honest I have met some super awesome people over here and I didn't have to look for them, they came to me. The PvP aspect comes in fighting for camp and/or zone control with your friends or guild.

Search out Lemonjelly on Red99 in a guild called Uprising, they take in all new comers and theres always plenty of folks xping you can hang with.

1. I first created my Enchanter, a Halfing Druid was in Neriak and PMed me stating come to waterfall. So I went he gave me 25p and buffed me out of the blue.

2. I was approached by a High Level Enchanter who pretty much forced a new robe and belt on me lol and buffed me. She buffs me everytime she is in my area,

3. Found a buyer for my bone chips and he paid me double and would not let me take less.

Don't let the PvP part of the name run you off. This is an awesome server and if more people know how awesome it was there would be triple the population. You are going to find pricks on Red99, Hell you have pricks on Blue99. Come on over and enjoy the server and don't get flustered. Plus Red99 has the most entertaining ooc chat in any game lol

/tell Lemonjelly
/tell Alethal

/tell anyone in the guild Uprising for an invite and have fun.
tingled

Back in the day when I played live pvp (99% on Vallon Zek), I always liked survivability more than just getting kill shots. Them paladins can take a lickin. I loved those fights where you were way outnumbered by a gank squad but still managed to fight them off/escape. World pvp isn't an arena, sometimes staying alive is as important as taking someone out (esp when you're bound half a continent away).

The big difference between red and blue:

IMO Blue is about 80% casual, 20% hardcore players, and 1% RNF style griefers. (I know this adds up to 101%).

When I played on Red for a few months, it was about 5% casual, 75% hardcore, and 20% RNF style griefers.

With the new XP bonus its probably normalized a bit but the point remains: Red is not a casual server. It's serious business (well for the people who play on it anyway).

I am not sure why so many people still play on blue. There is more loot, less competition, more exp, and less pvp on red than on the blue server.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I played on Red from rallos zek launch to P99 and as much as I would like to join red cus everyone says its so great, I cant stand how much I love sitting down at a zone line and leaving my apartment to get pizza and coming back to find my character still sitting there, un-faceraped.

The only EQ PVP servers I have ever played on have been Sullon Zek and Zek. Red99 does not compare to either of these servers (or other live PVP servers I imagine) for a wealth of reasons. The two biggest of which are: the massive exp bonus, and the distinct lack of PVP.

AFK for pizza is definitely a piece of utility I hadn't previously considered and in that way you have discovered (and revealed to me) one of the perks of playing on the blue server. A lot of the people I have met playing games like this have been largely loot motivated, regardless of whether the server was PVE or PVP. For players who are largely loot-driven (very common in players of MMOs/RPGs) the red server offers a sickening level of loot saturation on a per-player basis that is quite easily acquirable... at least relative to the blue server here. I say this both because of the insane EXP bonus on red which empowers newcomers to blitz to 60, and because there is essentially only one raiding guild on the server.

No idea how many guilds currently compete for raid targets on the blue server here (since I've never played there), but I have to imagine that one guild has not taken 90-100% of the end-game bosses week after week for the majority of the server's history. This is what I am more specifically referring to when I use the term "loot saturation."

But the pizza point was a really good one, something that didn't even cross my mind when I was comparing the two servers.
