The problem with the trial by jury system is the jurors that are smart enough to make a sound decision are never part of a jury because they're smart enough to get out of jury duty ;-)

So the jury ends up full of idiots.

I've yet to sit on a jury myself...I mean seriously mandatory day off of work where you only get paid like $7.50 an hour? Fuck that, I was making more than that when I was a teenager :-/

O.J. was found guilty... by a preponderance of the evidence.

The last time I was given a Jury Duty summons, I swung by the court house and filed a small claims case against McDonalds and chose an available date for the trial to coinside with my jury pick appearance date. Walked downstairs to the jury duty admin, showed proof of my being in a case on that date, got it canceled. Walked back upstairs to cancel my case against McDonalds, drove home. Cost me nothing.

The time before that I was in college so I printed out a sheet showing I had classes for the semester and claimed a hardship with the jury admin. There's retired people who enjoy jury duty. I'm happy to let them have it.

The court system certainly has problems, but very few cures exist that aren't worse than the disease. What's the alternative to what we have now?
I am not doing your senior thesis at the local community college for you!

Last time I got called for Jury duty I made out pretty well. Was for a federal case, kidnapping, something about taking drugs across state lines, and murder. Was totally some cartel shit goin on. There were about 15 US marshalls in the court room for the 3 guys they had in there. and they all had translators as none of them spoke English.

Anyway, one of the guys escaped or something and they had to delay the trial, so I got to go in for 2 hours two days in a row, spent like $10 in gas and $10 on parking and ended up getting a check for like $150, I had a decent drive, but was driving a small car at the time that got good mileage. I think it was $40 a day, 10 to reimburse the parking, and the rest was for the distance I had to drive. Pretty shitty pay for a full day, but not bad for a couple hours lol.

Every song I play is actually just me screaming the 1812 Overture in a raspy, shrieking falsetto.
