I played table tennis for my university for a couple years while in school (big10 school).

The whole "watching sports" is dumb argument is pretty much the same with every activity in life. I can argue tv is dumb, reading fiction dumb, video games, etc., etc. All activities in life are simply a way to kill time until you die. Sorry to be so morbid.
