So who were Daxum, Secrets and Gronkus etc? All VZTZ boxes?

They were just people that ran boxes.

All of the guildwars code was ported into eqemu, much of our loz/rz code changes have been handed in, hell were still trying to get someone to port in a diff we have for MQ2 exploits right now. Just no one will do it.
Much of the VZ/TZ code was passed out and looked at and what was worth it was ported in from what I can tell, and remember. The big issue is once its in the main code someone goes and fucks with it, and breaks everything. So next box up has to fix all the crap that someone borked. We had to fix countless bugs that we had fixed and ported in with the guildwars source this way.

Wonder how many people were hacking back then. Who actually ran the EMU itself?

Quote:
Before that consolidation there were loose controls, some people were hosting the website (Tux Racer/DigitalWorkings) for agxemu/freequest, followed by sourceforge for eqemu. When the login server came into play (we used to be able to login directly to the world servers before) it was hosted by Pyrotek, Hogie and a few others. Consolidation later: LethalEncounter followed by Doodman and most currently Rogean were after all that. Also I can confirm rust1d is not warsaint, we had trouble with warsaint even back on guildwars.
