lol @ Cross market, no one markets red99 that's why it is what it is

its recycled shitbags, period.

We got some new players from EQ Mac but most are realizing the horrible truth of 50+ Gameplay on red99 and the chokehold nihilum has on boss mobs and want nothing to do with it.

Variance is the only cure for red99 sickness, it must get so hard for nihilum to maintain control THEY MUST GIVE UP

nothing else will solve the problem, people play eq to raid, spiroc lord cannot be the only boss for the rest of the server, its not going to work.

Clearing hate and fear for no bosses? please

Everyone knows that the population shouldn't be tanking. If anything it should be doing DPS.

i can only speak for myself, but i didn't quit Red because of a lack of variance. i quit Red because this server was the most immature bunch of antisocial sociopaths i have ever encountered in my life.

and i read 4chan, so that's saying something.

Ps. Variance might help get a mob here and there but at same time having the ones willing to log in at all hours is still hard for a smaller guild.
merkk -- the people that want variance aren't even interested in PVE encounters. they just want Nihilum to have fewer people show up to raids.

their not even interested in pvp encounters

people who are interest in pvp, make toons for pvp and play fair enough to not simply dominate and control what goes on where on the server, they play for the pvp, not the metagame

I played red99 for a while. I didn't get griefed or relentlessly hunted/killed. But I couldn't find anyone with gear I could buy, despite having the plat. Mostly quit because it didn't seem like a lot was going on. Maybe I was just too low of a level?
^ This is pretty much it.

Inflation has pushed the prices of anything worthwhile so high that there really is no point in selling mid range stuff. It isn't even worth the effort to log in an alt to sell 1 or 2k worth of items.

XP is so easy, class imbalances as far as PvE goes, and the fact that so much of the population has been around forever means that there is little interesting to do once you do make 54/55. I've finished about 1/3d of the solo artist challenge just screwing around on a friend's retired account, why bother doing it with a group. Allow boxing and there is zero incentive to deal with players who are not as familiar with various zones and game mechanics.

HB keeps trying to make a point about leveling a melee, but the reality is that outside of PvP, most melee is boring as hell. What does a rogue do? Sit with a group and hit 1 key over and over again. Warrior? Hit mob then afk while procs keep agro. Monk can be interesting in certain spots but for most content is an inefficient puller. And we all know how much love there is for the hybrids.

And for what trade off? If you are one of the 15% of the player base who even cares about raiding, you become useful. Other than that, you are basically a charity case.

Every time someone steps up and puts the effort into a new guild, VV, Red Dawn, Rule of Rile, or whatever, a bunch of new players get involved and a bunch of old players revisit parts of Norrath that they may have missed the first time around. But they also eventually get to the point where there is very little left to do(outside of the extraordinary timesink of raiding) and quit logging in regularly.

The PvP here is awful here on so many levels it is hardly a reason for anyone to stay, and with Alecta having hardware problems, I imagine TESO and WildStar will both be out before we see any meaningful changes to red.

Global OOC makes this place about as appealing as a restaurant that leaves all the channels on static and at max volume. Wonder how many other players have left for similar reasons.

i had little problem getting my paladin to level 49 solo and unguilded. but once i started getting in PVP range of the level 55+s that just roam around ganking neutral soloers that are actively engaged in PVE fights.... yeah i just don't have time to deal with that bullshit.

it maybe would have been different if i was a caster, but all the worthwhile dungeons at 49+ are a long way from the places where a paladin can bind. as it stood, i was spending half of my play sessions just doing corpse runs.

i've griped about this before, and i was told "learn to PVP"... but no amount of PVP skill is gonna save me when i'm at 40% health with a mob beating on me and i get jumped by someone 8 levels higher than me.

your only optionis to join flowers and raid guk or join a raid org and hope they need u enough to get u some lewtz so u can survive a bit vs some of those redcons, at least enough to plug

it's horribly unfair and unjust when some untwinked melee is fighting for their lives in s ro and a druid or 3 roll into s ro just to rolfstomp u on their way to a raid or pixel farm

TLDR, flowers will let u level in their zones as long as u wear their tag and help them pvp their enemies. and players like lewis will let u pvp with them vs the raid geared people, its do-able when u have some good buff support, bard speed

also i see plenty mid range pvp gear, like white gold necklaces being sold for 500p

even a dwarven ring the other day, plenty good enough to pve in 2

sarnak tabbard, etc

u need to catch the pop mid swing, right as people are logging on and off, if u catch it at peek or its lowest spot, ur going to miss out on people looking to do stuff, sell, run around norrath, port

I know its a pain to schedule, i am trying to reconcile work + EQ + not letting my body go to shit

patience is the key, and avoiding burnout from those 20 hr solo grind sessions

GBS, 3k, 2:07 EST, not really low end but attainable with a bit of farmage

solo pvp, u cant make a ton of mortal enemies, don't ever pvp alone on a melee ur screwed, u have to beg for those druid/bards to come fight with u and prove ur worth, those melees who talk shit about 1v6 are punks who just have mad gears
