Yeah, I checked it three times, that character is gone. It's a mystery to me...
Petition it

I thought about it, but I'm not going to waste the GM's time. My character was only level 4 and I'm sure they have more important things to devote their time and resources too.

I'm just going to start over, and if it happens again I'll petition it then. I'll try a Ranger this time I guess. A few people recommended that I play a Druid as my first class, but I prefer playing the underdog.

Well, I started my new character this morning after strangely losing my previous character last night. I'm a level 3 Ranger still named Jingleson, running around west freeport beating up decaying skeletons. I'm stocking up on as many bone chips as possible while I grind my way to level 5. Saving every coin that I can to get some better armor and weapons. Hopefully Ranger equipment isn't too expensive.

If this character gets deleted too, I'll petition it, but so far no problems.

Not to dishearten you, and if you played original please ignore this as you already have made your choice.

But ranger usually = reroll by 20s. Not that they arent fun or they dont get a little better in velius.

That being said, you will suffer from a static 40% xp penalty and notice a much lower dps output than you might really like.

I love rangers- especially epic ones, but only the strong survive who play this class. I wish you the best and I hope you have the internal fortitude to forge through the rough times.

Some of my favorite games are the ones that are relentlessly difficult and brutally unforgiving, such as Ninja Gaiden, Dark Souls, and Ultima Online. So challenge is nothing new to me.

If I find that I can't hack it at some point, so be it, but I'll worry about that bridge when/if I reach it. Until then, I'm gonna play the best that I can and have as much fun as possible doing so.

As far as DPS goes though, the wiki says Rangers get Dual Wield and Double Attack, not to mention Kick and some minor DoT spells. I would think Dual Wield and Double Attack on their own would consistute a considerable level of DPS output with decent weapons.

Rangers can put out as much DPS as a warrior without Disks and being in Zerker Mode. So not too shabby. But they are a LOT of work to get to the top. But some people like a challenge. So if that is what you want, go for it. And welcome aboard.

Well someone in game said the servers went down for an extended period of time the other day, so I guess what happened to my character was the result of some sort of rollback. I don't know if anyone else experienced one though.

On a character related note though, my first priority will be a pair of ebony bladed swords, then a suit of banded, then some HP rings.

Welcome to the server. I myself am quite new to P99 having played back in 99-05, but I will agree on one of the above posts where they say the community is very friendly for the most part. The week or so I have been back I will tend to agree but there has been some negatives, which there always will be sadly.

I will tell about one of the main run ins I had. The wife and I ran to EC tunnel at level 6 and asked a druid for a lower level skin buff to help us out, if they took a look at our toons thy would have seen we were quite new to the server. They took a look at us and came to the conclusion we probably had no cash so their response was "that takes too much mana sorry" and continued porting people for cash as they were auctioning.

C'mon we have all been there, but seriously? If people want this server to continue to grow new players and lowbies need to be helped out its that simple. Then they grow and raise in their levels and they do the same to other newbies its a cycle but it needs to happen. It takes a few seconds of your time to help a new character with a buff that may last close to an hour and will make their P99 exp so much better.

Take care of the servers newbies guys, they will return the favor to your alts and others once they level you can be sure of it.

PS - This is by no means me bashing the player base because for every one bad experience there was another nine great ones, but we can do better and make it ten out of ten.
