Way to throw out broad, and wildly incorrect generalities.
Hey now I said gamers/flunkers meaning gamers or big failures. You don't have to assume I meant you were a big loser and get all defensive buddy.

As for the other guy talking about these advanced classes... wow you must be real smart.

Advanced classes in college.... guess I missed those I just took the normal ones that gave me a degree and led to a real job. Plus out of my friends that have graduated college only the ones that can't get a job have gone on to grad school because they can't make it in the real world yet.

For some paths grad school is a must right after undergrad, but for the majority getting job experience and taking grad school while working is the way to go and will get you a lot farther.

It also allows you to know what you are doing and what your career path is if you work before grad school. In my case I'm taking the CFA which easily trumps a grad school degree and I'm glad I didn't waste my time with grad school before I knew exactly what I was interested in.

^ Sadly, you're under the impression that the verbal diarrhea you just spewed made you sound educated. Another fun fact: the most important aspect of communication is clarity. In this regard you failed miserably.

That said, I did parse your message — and no, your assumption is not a reasonable one. There is no reason to believe that a "majority" of this server is of one age group or another, and again, it's pretty clear in the context of my original post that the "summer school" I was referring to was of the remedial variety.

If I may expand on this just a bit further, you should remove the stick from your ass at your earliest convenience.
Someone sounds bitter.

Hey my e-peen is the biggest of all. I'm at an ivy league school and I'm taking summer courses in order to double major in 4 years.

Ihealyou, your posts might as well be a bucket of water on the flame threads.

I don't know, that is a pretty bold claim guy. Think I'm going to have to disagree that any professional certificate would create more opportunities than a graduate degree.

Thats because you don't know much about the CFA. You have to take 3 tests which can only be taken in the summer once a year (besides the 1st test which can be taken summer or winter) and there are a limited amount of people that can pass every year worldwide, meaning there is a curve on the test.

There are about 10 books per test. It ends up taking most people 5-10 years to pass all 3.

Anyone in the finance industry would take a CFA over any grad school.

Depends on what you want I guess.

In IT many places would much prefer their Cisco admins to have a CCIE over a Masters in MIS or whatever they call it now.

Same with say - a Unix Admin. Experience means a LOT there, as it takes very little and just one wrong move to hose up a Unix server

rm -r /

oops.

So it just might depend. I never did finish college personally. Ended up party-ing too much after High School and having kids too early. But I guess tenacity and experience made up for a lot of it. That being said, I'd still like to go back and get at least a four year degree. But in a way I'm hesitant - I don't ever want to manage people, I've done that before and it sucks.

Managing machines - for me - is a lot, lot more rewarding and I'm better at it. I'm too laid-back to manage people. Seems like anyone in IT with more than an undergrad degree are all MBA's.
