I hold the unpopular opinion that exp rate is too high. I think a group xp bonus would do a lot more for the server than our current flat bonus. People leave the server because they aren't interacting with people and making friends. Also, teams. I polled some bluebies and tons of them are interested in a teams server, so whenever they get around to coding teams in I think population will see a big influx of new players.

-Remove xp bonus entirely
-Add in BIG scaling group bonus (more party members, more bonus)
-Teams
-General niceness

Let's seriously put in some effort toward not griefing our population away.
Forget about niceness, half the populations server are antisocial jerks. Thats not gonna change.

People arent interacting with people because most likely they dont make it to 5 before saying fuck this shit, takes forever to grind.

I see group bonus working coupled with a xp nerf but only when we have a pop at least half of what blue has.

Current exp bonus results in solo classes burning through levels quickly solo, while leaving the melees in the dust. We don't need more antisocial soloers, we need group-minded individuals to build a community around.

Yeah but why do people roll solo classes? Because thats the intelligent thing to do on a low population server.

You cant nerf xp just hoping there will be a magical pop surge that will now make grouping a regular day to day reality.

Population has to be there first, and then id agree with you on the group xp bonus / regular xp nerf.

We're faced with two extreme suggestions (keep exp rate insanely high, nerf solo exp rate to baseline). Middle way.

Scale back solo exp rate some (not all the way), add in group bonus.

Insanely high? Takes me like an hour to get a level on my 7 wiz solo at this rate

I just logged her off because its boring as fuck.

Lets get some group xp going instead, I dont mind leveling slower, its more fun! Type who: 1 player in Nektulos forest EC: 1 player

Stop being so negative. Global ooc is for finding groups, and if group exp was by far the more efficient method of leveling then I bet it'd be used a ton more.

You dont seem to get it, ill repeat it one more time. If you nerf solo xp and add group bonus, all it does for my lvl 7 wiz is that hes now got brutal grinding slow speed and still no people to group with.

You cant nerf solo xp before the population goes up, that would just be dumb, especially since we know what it does to the population, we did it back this winter.

Thats just the reality of it, when someone logs in, most likely hes not finding any groups soon. Especially since he cant OOC if people wants to start one.

If he creates a character in freeport, and theres people killing bats and skellies at entrance, thats another thing entirely. Which was the point i was trying to make, that we need the population first, then you boost group xp.

But even then, its not optimal for population growth. Because the population cant grow forever. So for example if by 500 people pop growth slows down by alot, and the average level bracket is 40+, any new person trying to roll on the server will be in the same bad position. Group xp is up, but so what, he cant find a group.

What would probably be good is something like 200% solo xp, and 300% group xp once we have a ~500 server pop.

Faeries new here, Rogean will nerf the exp bonus - plus realise that the original one was too high and nerf it worse than it started.

That's what happened last time box was over 200 pop.
