Have you looked at the Amulets of Necropotence? Tiggles actually has a good point: there are a lot for sale. All you'd have to do is search for ones that were created recently.

By default that sort of information isn't stored, and it wouldn't be immediately easy to implement such a feature (not to say it couldn't be done without too much effort). There's a table for items that stores all the stats and such for each item; each item has an ID number. It is through this ID number that a character is connected to the item(s).

Why can't they get some sort of a history:
Jeremy looted AON from Cazic Thule Jeremy traded AON to Loraen Loraen traded AON to Halmir It seems like just looking at this even if you couldn't figure out how the dupe was working at least you would know WHO was doing it, just by looking at who profited from the creation of the item.

Characters are very likely linked to an item ID, and not an individual instance of an item. This could be altered so that every instance of an item generates a unique ID, that has a created on/looted by/transferred to history table stored somewhere in the database.
