China had a bunch of revolts and revolutions that would knock the 30 year war and even possibly WW1 out of the top 3. Depending on where you place Japan's military actions (most Europeans see WW2 starting in 1939, most Americans see WW2 starting 1941), the Sino-Japanese waw(s) could also challenge.

4. What running back averaged over 10 touchdowns and 1500 yards for each of his 10 seasons in the NFL, making the pro bowl every year. – Barry Sanders.

Barry averaged over 1500 rushing yards, but not over 10 rushing touchdowns. When you include his receiving yards/TDs, the numbers jump up to over 1800 yards and nearly 11 TDs a year.

5. What is the country with the largest land area in Western Europe – France – 633 square k.

The Kingdom of Denmark claims Greenland counts and respectfully disagrees.

9. What Dutch Explorer first “discovered” Australia – Dirk Hartog

How did you decide on him instead of Willem Janszoon?

11. Name the American city commonly referred to as “The Mistake on the Lake” –

For God's sakes Lemon, we'd all like to flee to the Cleve and club up at the Flats and have lunch with Little Richard

26. What is the name of the hottest pepper in the world? Either scientific or nickname – Ghost Pepper

Don't tell that to the Trinidad Moruga Scorpian

30. What language is spoken by more people than any other language in the world?
Mandarin>English for native speakers, but if you change this to some standard of fluency, English>Standard Chinese.
Fixed your answers, HTH.

1. If you research into it the 30 years war had over 30 million casualties - military and civilian combined. Although some of the Chinese internal conflicts had a high casualty toll none come close to the 30 years count.

4. Notice I didn't say rushing touchdowns only? Receiving touchdowns count towards the 10 per season total.

5. Perhaps it could have been worded better but Greenland is not commonly accepted as part of Western Europe. Many people who participated in the trivia event said Russia - which is in Europe but in Eastern Europe.

9. This is the one of two questions I legitamtely messed up on. I was going off memory and you're right, Janszoon did beat Hartog out by a couple of years with Hartog being second. I awarded a point to both the person who first said Hartog and the person who first said Janszoon.

11. Not sure why you put this one as an error - Cleveland is commonly referred to as "The Mistake on the Lake". Unfortunately I live there [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

26. Nice catch. I'm not big into peppers but for the longest part of my life the Ghost Pepper has had the dubious honor of being the hottest. Upon researching I can see that the Trinidad Moruga Scorpian was confirmed to be number #1 last year. As no one said the Trinidad Moruga (within the 10 second time limit) the issue was not raised during the trivia event as it was with quesiton #9

30. I did change the wording on this question when I asked it compared to what I wrote down on the question list - As I was typing the question I changed it to "largest number of Native Speakers" as I saw the same ambiguity you did upon reading it. Thus making Mandarin the correct answer.

To be honest I did this Trivia event on a whim and had only about an hour to come up with the questions. I'm thinking I will make this a monthly occurrence; as such I will have more time to double and triple check all of the answers. Might also then outsource it to a 3rd party who doesn't play EQ to double check my work.

Thank you for the feedback on this.

Sad how I try to do something fun for the community, yet I'm bashed on message boards for not "giving enough". I had several people tell me this was the most fun they've had on p99 so far. It took time and effort to organize this and platinum of my own.
This wasn't a TMO event. This was an event I like to do myself. I just happen to be a TMO member.

Anyway...

Congrats to the winners. After 2 hours of Trivia the rankings were:

1st Place - Agnaeda with 5 correct answers - 15k
2nd Place - Kuroda with 3 Correct answers in the main round, 1 in sudden death - 10k
3rd Place - Jeremy with 3 Correct answers in main round, 1 in sudden death rd 2 - 5k
4th Place - Barahir with 3 Correct answers in the main round - 3k
5th Place - Maugrym with 2 Correct answers in the main round, 1 in sudden death -2k

I should be making this a monthly or bi-monthly thing from here on out. Thank you to all who participated - it was a good turn out.
Spoken cordially like a politician by countering that many people enjoyed the event (regardless of nefarious intentions) and appealing to the hard work ethic of the common folk by saying that putting together the event took time and effort. You also appealed to those with strict finances (i.e. newbs) by mentioning you used "platinum of my own" (no shit with all the epic selling that TMO does at what? 100k+ a pop).

Just stop the act. This is all coordinated by TMO to try and increase rep on the server.

I don't get why some people want to turn this into an anti-tmo thread. The fun of trivia transcends all guild tags. My only criticism is that those math questions are way too easy.

I considered making the math harder but I figured with the 10 seconds time limit to answer questions (to try to void googling) it would be too rough. Maybe next time I'll make them harder and give a longer time limit on the math ones.
Glad you had fun at the event.

And so the "giving back by TMO" continues. At 2-15k, TMO can afford pennies to the poor if it means increasing their rep on the server. The 1% of the world do the same thing by "donating" to various charities.

^this guy gets it.

Furiously spinning that PR campaign as they steal epics from people, train, exploit, and shit up the server nonstop.
While I don't disagree that those are indeed the kinds of things TMO does, unless this particular poster is a known perpetrator of such actions I wouldn't fault a single person doing a generous act for the actions of the guild he happens to share a name with.

Keep up the fun and games OP, Everyone hates your guild, doesn't mean they all hate you.
