In addition to that, many of these people using this hand symbol symbols believe in political policies that are considered racist by many. I am not going to try to convince you these policies aren't racist, since you probably have disproved that in your head already. But because many people do think these policies are racist, they associate that symbol with racism.

The point he was making was not that white nationalists don't use the OK sign; I think everyone would agree that you can find pictures of people who self-identify as white nationalists making the OK sign. His point was that hundreds of millions of people who aren't white nationalists also use the OK sign, which means that a picture of someone making the sign isn't a reliable indicator of their group identity. In fact it's less than not reliable, it's misleading. So yeah, don't do that.

Saying that a policy is racist because racists support it is a bad argument because it says nothing about the policy itself, only about its supporters who could be supporting it for any number of reasons, including non-racist ones, or even a mistaken belief that the policy is racist.
