they flip flop on running being bad for your knee cartilage about as often as they change their minds on eggs being good for you, only constant to it is other people are stupid.

it's all about moderation and finding a good balance, on the spectrum of a miserable health nut who still gets hit by a car or has a heart attack due to hereditary/genetics at a young age on one end and Keith Richards who smoked for 55 years and has done more heroin than anyone of us could possibly imagine on the other end...

just find a spot in the middle somewhere

I personally think there isn’t such a thing as a correct or incorrect way to go through life so long as you are not doing wrong to others. If someone wants to have a “burn bright and burn out fast” kind of life either due to unhealthy food or substance use that’s their prerogative

But if we are talking about living long lives then quality of life also comes into the equation. The difference between an 85yr old that has been taking care of themselves and one that doesn’t can be pretty stark. One is still able to move around and do things and the other tends to look shriveled up like the crypt keeper coiled into a fetal position on their couch

Treat yourself like shit, and you are going to have a shit quality back end. So if that’s the case, a long life isn’t necessary going to be a such a great thing. If the last half is “oh my god everything hurts and I can’t catch my breath” all day, maybe it is better to just have died at 55

Eggs are extremely good for you, they're jam packed with nutrients because the yolk is there to sustain a fragile baby chicken. People just get freaked out by the cholesterol content- they think that dietary cholesterol intake is what clogs your arteries, which is not true. The cholesterol that ends up in your arteries is produced endogenously by your body and has a massive genetic component that you can't control. It's not like when you eat cholesterol your body goes "Oh thank you Frank, I'll just go ahead and pack that directly into your widowmaker." It's processed, converted or excreted like everything else.

The incredible edible egg!

yeah, my only observation is people tend to go to the extremes in either direction, either being sedentary obese pieces of shit, or making being a gym rat their entire personality to the point of going down the road of abusing AAS

the data is all over the place though so it's hard to even really know, but it's like 90% of actual body builders and anywhere from single digits to between 20% - 50% of recreational resistance training gym goers based on self reporting studies

and people doing the extremes get more attention so there's a bias there i acknowledge

Oh and speaking of eggs, my current breakfast routine is a 3 egg scram with a diced red chili and a drizzle of bbq sauce over the top. Even steak sauce works in a pinch. So damn good, I could eat that for the rest of my life.

With dating though, do chicks dig it when you know how to cook or do they find it gay and offputting? I've never been clear on that.

i need to try that, my initial reaction was wtf, but the simulation in my head tasted pretty good.

Well like I used to religiously watch the show top chef, and whoever I was dating at the time found it kind of gay (that I watch it), but also like 80% of the contestants on the show are gay or lesbian. So like... I dunno. Correlation doesn't equal causation, but a pattern is a pattern.

I'm a musician too which I also find is kind of coded as gayish in the dating scene, which is weird because you think of all those macho rockstar cliches where they get all the chicks, but it never pans out that way. I can't explain the beauty of the lydian mode without sounding insanely gay. It's a cruel existence.

The sort of chicks I always dated would often seem to find it impressive that I knew how to cook anything, if they think a man knowing how to cook something is gay then I probably wouldn't want to move any further, anyways.

Anyways, this stuff on eggs:
