A good case study for working around what you were born that I know about only because I follow MMA is this guy on the left. Dustin Poirier

I remember during interviews, or just talking to people leading up to a fight, he’d often look nervous. He’d kind of have a psyched out look on his eyes, and he’d seem anxious and kind of jumpy. I used to read so many comments online saying “look how nervous Dustin is. He’s totally not ready for the fight”. “He knows he is going to lose lol!” “Look at how psyched out he is!”

But then he’d win. And it wasn’t until years later, recently, when he finally came out and said he has always had really bad social anxiety his entire life, especially in groups of people. It was never the fights making him nervous, it was the interviews. It was having to talk to people

And he’s a super nice dude, gives to charities, great with kids. Top of his division, and made millions and millions of dollars. Married with kids, etc. And he could beat the living piss out of anyone who made fun of his social anxiety

Just a good example of someone who had social anxiety, developed other skills, worked around it, and was highly highly successful, including with women. And there’s probably countless more examples

I get the feeling you are alone.

Like not just single but alone. Maybe you got room mates but you dont hang out with them, type.

Actually, as a man. It's your time, resources, validation and commitment.

This is actually a good point. Usually what a man and woman brings to a relationship are different. And everyone here has heard the criticism probably thousands of times at this point that a man merely having money is all that matters to a lot of women out there

I won’t dispute that fact. I think it’s a little more hard-wired than many people realize, both in our dna but also thousands of years of human anthropological evolution. And not just occurring in humans either. If we look at other animal species, in many others the females select a mate who they feel could best provide a home for their future brood. To some degree this is hardwired into women even if they don’t plan to have kids. It’s just like why men find younger, usually skinnier (not gross skinny but not fat) women more attractive, that’s hard wired as well. Having symmetrical features, being at a healthy weight, and being young, are all physical indicators that this woman is in the best physical condition to have children. Men are hard wired to be attracted to this even if they don’t plan or want to have kids

Obviously there is a downside to marrying strictly for money and bartering one’s looks, as we all know. Looks fade. And if your looks was all you were coasting on, you can pretty much guarantee that man is going to cheat on you with a younger prettier woman, and eventually drop you for one completely (divorce settlements complicate this but there is such a thing as prenup)

Women can bring personality, humor and other things to the table, same as men can. I’m sure you’ve all seen at one point or another a girl who is with a guy who looks out of her league looks wise. That’s probably a girl with a good personality, and/or she’s dynamite in bed [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

But yep it cannot be denied that men will always be a bit more focused on looks and women will be a bit more focused on success and ability to provide financial stability, on a general scale
