I dunno man, I gave you like ten + great options at how to PVP us with less numbers. You also could merge with Force, you could recruit more, you could try Gorenaire, you could help people level more and gear up, farm more resist gear, I dunno there's tons of shit you can do. I see new players on the server every day you could try speaking to them, helping them out, help groom them to join up, I mean I could go on and on. There's so much you could do to contest and grow the guild and become stronger and better but all I see on the forums are a bunch of QQ. That's not what a leader does, he doesn't take to OOC and the Forums to cry, he re-evaluates, figures out what he can change, how he can improve, etc.

As far as Freez goes, you can say whatever you want about me, but there wouldn't even be an Azrael had I not come back to the box and tried to make VV into an actual guild and powerlevel / gear half of the people rather than let it turn into another Samwise flake fest. There's plenty of things I'd prolly have done differently, such as boot a lot more people who weren't going to put the team in front of the individual, but you live and you learn.
I get trying to level up people and being nice to the community but you as much as anyone should know it makes you bitter when most of the people take advantage and then just join Nihilum. If Azrael did what you say they would be feeding Nihilum more than feeding themselves. I'm guessing this is the same reason you gave up and joined Nihilum.

I agree with you that Nihilum doesn't have enough people for the optimum PvE roster. It is more than any other guild but as far as PvE goes you need more, especially when Velious comes around. The population really isn't big enough for a second guild to get a fair share of the new flow of people. Nihilum isn't going to be less competitive to let others catch up. Yes it would be better for the server if you could get 150 competitive players to agree to split up in even teams of 3 but how can anyone in their right mind think this is possible. People want to be the best and will do whatever. People will try to get an edge in fear that others will take advantage if they don't, etc. You can't expect Nihilum to not be competitive.

Its the same as the scenario where you can share a punishment with a friend or rat them out so they have a worse punishment and you get off free. You can't expect red99 to not be full of rats.

The server needs enough people to where Nihilum members would start getting annoyed at how big they are and the people at the bottom not getting gear. This would eventually lead to a new guild being created that could take some players from Nihilum or even have some members from Nihlium split up and make another guild. Right now they are sitting at a pretty good number for Kunark and have the right number show up with no over flow.

You can't expect players to make the server good on their own, it has to happen naturally. That needs to happen with a larger population over level 50. That may be impossible to ask for a game made in 1999 on a pvp server. There are countless threads that have been going on since the server started about ways to increase population. It all comes back to attracting more players.

Red99 needs peak hours to have 300 people logged in so that 150 of them are most likely level 50+ and competing. Until then Nihilum will continue to dominate.

nihilum will continue to dominate PVE, yes with 40 members raiding

PvP is not found on this server for one simple reason

zerg Zerg ZERG, in every aspect of this game, pve and pvp combined, this is what Nihilum shows this community

-------------------

Suggestion: Split Nihilum up into 2 guilds, and watch server thrive

And for that they need to get rid of the wishy washy "People dont play EQ to pvp" xp loss in pvp ridiculousness

I dont think theres a large pool of people willing to be bored to death playing a 12 year old game to tap into, more pvp / less ridic xp death penalty = more fun = more people

People like me who never played on a blue server back on live cant see themselves playing EQ with no pvp (Although ill admit i did on blue just for the wtf nostalgy factor which dried out after a while) and thats basically what this server is.

Thats where the solution is, to make the pvp fun by removing xp loss. There just isnt a whole lot to do in EQ to warrant this extreme pvp hindrance. Fight over camps, contest raid mobs, thats all there is to EQ.

The problem isnt this guild is doing this or that, the root cause is the ruleset

If we don't get people to come to red from outside project 1999 I at least think we could steal some from blue. There are a lot of people fed up with how things are on Blue and will eventually be pushed to wanting to PK bitches. I think a couple rule changes could help people come here sooner.

It would actually be good for both servers. Blue is too overcrowded.

Blue has 1100 less people on it than the average EQ server.

However, it has been in Kunark for like 3-4 years or whatever so of course the population is top heavy and everyone who is 60 thinks it is because they are some kind of bad ass.

You can't expect a competitive guild to hurt itself for the good of the server. They are getting everything they want and have optimal numbers for Kunark. They have little motivation to gimp themselves right now even though it would make the server more fun for everyone outside of Nihilum. It's not like the server is dead. They have all the PvE they want and if they want to PvP it is possible for them to find. The state of this server is about as good as it can get for Nihlum right now. More or less people would be a negative for them.

HB is totally right with his post.
After leaving azrael and joining chewie in regular daily pvp over pve, ive found server to be loads more fun than before. win or lose.
Half of the reason people dont fight nilly is because of the forumquest after a death imo.

Should just enjoy the pvp. guerilla warfare r99 style would be so easy to carry out at the moment.
