Instancing wouldn't be that tough of a problem from a design perspective - we're just talking about managing data here. From a resource perspective, though, it might have been difficult for the time.
Close to impossible.

If Everquest Classic - Velious was released today, you better fucking bet it would be with instancing.

I don't see why it would be so difficult. If you can create the zone once, you can create it a bunch of times. It's just managing it properly that takes a little finesse, assuming you have the resources.

I guess one way to find out would be to reverse engineer the player profile struct from an original eqgame.exe

lets not get it twisted though, I'd argue that Everquest can't be Everquest with instancing. A big part of the appeal to Everquest is the non-instancing component.

Regarding EQNext, who knows. Instancing would be the smart way to go. People these days play for fun and don't want to be grief'd by jobless neckbeards timing dragons.

I hope EQ next takes a similar approach to early EQ2. There was a healthy mix of contested and instanced content. Generally speaking for the first few expansion packs (and the avatars), there were several contested top tier raid mobs while also providing a few instanced raiding zones. Hope they do that.

I have an idea. How about if I stop playing much or posting much next week when classes resume and you can continue talking a lot of mindless shit while you fantasize about Hepatitis-infested whores covered in graffiti like the walls of the shitter in a dive bar?

Your mad is showing more and more.

You shouldn't be so concerned with your online gaming life/rep, there is so much more out there in the world.
