Also, the majority of the 500 people were playing both blue and red. Most of the blues that were playing both, stopped playing red and continued on playing blue. Why? Mainly because the community that a red server brings is leaps and bounds more retarded than the community that is on blue. The few blues who switched completely have been destroying reds on the PvE front making the reds flood the forums with "hax/wipe/dirty/cheat" so on posts because of how bad they are at EQ.

Again, you all made the server as shitty as it is. Your want of global ooc and YT isn't going to fix your community. Maybe if you remove everyone that currently plays on red and put some completely new retards on there it wouldn't be so bad (save some of the obvious decent people who completely ignore the server+forum drama and actually play red99 like it's meant, Classic EQ style).

It doesn't literally force you to play a certain way by putting a gun to your head if you don't become a random-PK, but it creates a social expectation for you to play a certain way. You can say "it gives people a reason to pvp", but that's just being obtuse, because people rolling on this server don't need to be given a reason to pvp. They made characters here presumably because they already enjoy pvp and don't need YT to draw them in. You basically want to turn this server into an FPS where the sole goal of everyone playing is to accumulate as many kills as possible.

See above. A leaderboard just makes it easier for PKers to ridicule anyone not playing by their own self-imposed rules. Also, having to code it so that it doesn't include repeated kills, kills on guildies, etc. would probably be more work than the staff is willing to put in (obviously I don't speak for them, but a leaderboard is asking for a lot).

This sounds logical if you're anti-social and have no friends, and no options for a guild. It may ring truer for people just starting, but a case can be made for forums in that regard.

I started on the server late and had few people to level up with. I made friends, some of whom I PvP against now...and even so we're still friendly.

Community and liveliness comes from being social in a social game. Not trying to be the uber solo PK that doesn't have any other means of being involved in a community other than global and YT.

We can all argue it till we're blue in the face though. Like I said...it's a very divisive issue, and could contribute to fragmenting an already weak population instead of helping. We should work on things that we all can agree on...increased 1-20 xp rate, more events...whatever.

How about instead of a leader board just a log of kills at the end of the week. There's nothing else handed out. The ability to post SS's in RNF is still here. Do you want that taken away too? I think it would provide a fun incentive. Where's the harm in trying it? Just pull it down if it fucks things up. I think it's a good idea to at least try some things here. You can punch holes in any idea or introduce all kinds of bad elements as a result of doing anything here. The dynamic pvp range was removed, people howled that it would ruin the game and OOR healing would be rampant. Doesn't seem to be such a big deal right now... does it? And you know what? If it was, we could just put it back in, no real harm done.


Being intelligent about what I'm voting for, I can see where global OOC is going to cause bull shit but I guess it's worth a chance, even if just to prove the squealers advocating it wrong.

The forums are opt-outable - yellow text is not. It also requires more work to take a screenshot and post it to the forums. I actually think using RnF to post killshots is great, because it's actually funny occasionally. Also, screenshots are better at showing the context in which a kill occurred, so people can be ridiculed if they're killing someone who's afk, bind camping someone, killing someone who's naked, zerging someone, etc. There's a big difference between YT and posting killshots that makes the latter tolerable and the former a terrible idea that's bad for diversity.

You can opt out of a players killed log too. I'm not advocating the yellow text of other emus in game.

I think it's a sizable # of people that want it and there's none of the (valid) cons involved. Kill log is fine imho.
