Well over the course of the war we killed over 300,000 afghani people, so that might be one reason. We assassinated an elected leader and installed the Shah of Iran...We directly empowered the taliban and people like Osama Bin Laden during the cold war...There was the iran contra, we used millions of dollars for missiles used on Syria not long ago. Maybe they say death to america because we're kind of the worst terrorists on the planet.

Yeah it's a difficult situation and not sure what we could have done better. The biggest problem was that the second we made that pact and committed to a pullout, the entire police and security force became demoralized and realized they would likely be fighting a losing battle. Without American logistical and air support it would likely only be a matter of time; so they started taking bribes from the Taliban to surrender, hence the massive advances the Taliban were able to achieve rapidly.

IMO this likely would have happened whether we did it 5 years ago, whether we did it now, or whether we did it 10 years from now.

That's very correct imo! This was not a traditional rout, government forces simply gave up without a fight. Politics.
