I'm not familiar with the political environment in Germany so I would never just make some broad statements judging them. These are your people. Why has this happened suddenly? The UK government has concluded people with a higher BMI are more likely to test positive, more likely to require admission to the ICU if they do test positive, and ultimately twice as likely to die. They also conclude that this may explain the racial disparity in COVID infections as Black Women are three times a likely to be obese in the UK as Asian men. I have not checked their methodology, so this paper could be garbage, but I guess that because doctors have financial incentives to classify every death as COVID, and obese people die more and have more health problems, we naturally see more obese among the casualties.

Also, I've met girls from Venezuela and Panama and such and there is a lot of obesity. Walking down the streets in Buenos Aires, on the other hand, was an education - how do they look that good on a diet of doughnuts and coffee?
