classical music was buried under numbers too and now is only performed an enjoyed among a very moneyed, insular, and largely immune-to-culture-cancer community. there's only like 2 female conductors of status and no outcry.

That's what happens when you fuck a person of color and have kids with them instead of a white person. No one was forcing the situation last I checked.
