It can't be just me however, who is truly amazed at how far people who are kind of just nuts, keep rolling with this "Can you believe they thought we were so stupid?" routine.

As years turns to decades, that stupidity badge hangs on the neck of those who blew an o-ring by standard make-do emergency measures during an at-first not fully understood new influenza virus.

They would say, "It's just a flu!" unaware that that was understood.

They would say "Masks don't stop it!" as the rest of us gave up on explaining the meaning of the word "mitigation."

But, on they go. This is like actually being present when it became a fad to tie an onion to one's belt. History.

Well much of the silliness comes from a demagogue and his acolyte(s)/rivals throwing doubt on science. The dominos fall and fall and all of a sudden the science-doubters default to casting scientific institutions in the same light as political asshattery.

Time to throw some chlorine in the gene pool, I suppose.

I don’t think we should whitewash the gene pool. Instead, work on recognizing your own blind spots. Don’t be afraid to doubt science. It brought us Crisco, btw. I suggest you doubt Crisco.
