The overturning the government wouldn’t. Especially considering the rioters weren’t armed. Maybe I just suck at insurrection but I can’t figure out how unarmed rioters permanently change government function

Part of the reason things got so out of control was incredible mismanagement by police administration or city management, I forget which, may have been both, people were fired for this. There normally should have been enough of a police presence to control the crowd but there wasn’t then

But back to the original point, I can’t connect the dots as to how it overthrows a government, especially one as powerful as ours. We ain’t talking Afghanistan here. How I imagine it would play out is riot police would fairly easy put down the riot. Then there would have to be many more armed riots all over the country and even then the answer could be to declare martial law. The government would for sure win in the end, the only question would be how much force they would have to use and how that might reflect on their image
This just reeks of alt right downplaying talking points (no offense). The fact of the matter is you have a serious issue in this country where suddenly one guy can just make things up and convince people without evidence to try to stop the certification of an election. This is a serious issue that does not bode well for the future.

Give me a break with the mismanagement/lack of police presence. There wasn’t a lack of police presence in context, because no one thought Trump would actually instigate people to go try and overturn the election as a mob lol. That’s like blaming a guy who got robbed for not carrying a weapon to defend himself with “well if you’d had a weapon you wouldn’t have been robbed so we really should t blame the robber that much” smh

Imagine comparing some businesses getting burned to an assassination attempt on spots 1-3 in the presidential line of succession in the most powerful country in the world.

Thirsty people in this thread should check out urine, refreshing as well as anti-covid I hear.

*temporarily stopped the certification of an election. If you think this wouldn’t be temporary, then enlighten me as to how it permanently (or until next election) could change the next president?

There absolutely was mismanagement, and people were fired for it. The police presence has to be enough to control a rowdy crowd, it’s no different than a rock concert

Here’s the article discussing the mistakes made, nm he resigned before he was fired https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn...ils/index.html

Edit: and btw it was Democrat Congress including Nancy Pelosi blaming the police event planning. So keep that in mind when you call my viewpoint alt-right

More on the alt right criticisms of chief of police management of the event:

Alt right leader “Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer had said he would fire Stenger when he became majority leader later this month”

Alt right leader “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday called for the resignation of the Sund and said the House Sergeant at Arms has told her he is submitting his resignation as well. Michael Stenger, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, has resigned as well, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced”

It’s not about whether they ultimately succeeded or not. It was temporary. But again you’re just completely ignoring my whole point haha

I thought Congress controlled the Capitol Police but then I got debunked.

I still think it.

Trump knew the plan was to submit false certifications and then distract

He almost succeeded... and people are still dumb.. so the system works.
