Small, cramped interiors and a manual are tough. When the lady wants to 'kiss you goodnight' while driving. Not for the uncoordinated! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The new BRZ supposedly has 230 horsepower. Not bad if it’s a stick and 3000ish lbs

Those small ass tires are garbage though

But chevy dropped it.

Yeah I like ricer style, but the new civics are just not small. I'd rather have a ford fiesta ST

But yeah a new truck is 40,000 dollars.

I mean almost a new anything is 20,000 and mostly 30,000
Ah, I didn't know or just haven't seen any. Not like it used to be anyway. I don't like ricer style and would actively hate on it, I often diss 'elite computer gamers' who have RGB disco lighting in their rigs. 2 fasst 2furious and all that, complete with racer chair. Notice how the computer industry started to focus on gimmicks when a new processor or better GPU didn't get the attention. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Just look for a used version of any toyota car, its a lot of money, or 200+ K miles

Regularly I find 200,000 mile 4 runners for 20,000 dollars. Thats a totally whipped car being sold for about half of a high spec brand new one. Thats insane. Thats loyalty, and thats trust in a platform. Nothing else comes close.

It is a shame that a regular pickup is so hard to come by. Last I checked a regular basic F250 could be had with Zero features and rubber floors and stuff, but I'm sure they are 30K or close to it.

Stick shifts are not my favorite in trucks, but it really depends on the car. I like them on things that I need as much control as possible or that I need the most power out of as possible, like a small light car. The other good application is something you want to last as long as possible (WAY LONG) and have no high maintenance surprises. An auto is great until it breaks, and even toyota automatics (aisin?) can fail once you get above 150k but usually in the 200k miles mark. With an auto thats 2000 dollars or more, with a manual thats a 250 dollar clutch set and a saturday.

So, ya. The trouble is that cars because they are directly connected to the cost of raw materials, labor, health care for that labor, insurance, etc are direct indicators of the cost of business. A normal persons ability to buy one outright is a very good indicator of the weakening of the American middle class and their relative wage decreases over the years against inflation.

Since this is a forum for insanity to take place, I would propose that wages that employers pay have gone up SUBSTANTIALLY they are very generation, but those increases all go to health insurance fleecer / scalpers and liability insurance fleecer / scalpers and none of those increases go to the employee.

It is the legal liability system that cripples most of what people want to do in the USA. We have a non common sense based system that ruins lives all over the place. Many things are decided against not because they are good or bad but because they expose someone or some company to liability that isn't worth the trouble. Its hell.

Driving is boring and not interesting without something to do. I have to say that I live in the country side with minimal city traffic during my work day, I probably would not own a manual if I had too much stop-n-go traffic.

It's a skill being able to do it well, in all conditions and locations. I like that, it feels good.

A clutch is so second nature to me that I will try to find the clutch pedal when I sit in an automatic, like when I drive a friends car. Light turns red, I have that minor "oh shit" moment when my left foot hits the floorboard. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Ya it takes me about 2 seconds to get used to my wifes auto vs my manual. But yeah I don't prefer manuals in trucks.

I have never had anything but standard.. Manual everything I swear makes a car last 200% longer, and even if you fuck up a plate, replacing it isn't as hard or expensive as replacing a auto transmission..

Same goes for automatic windows etc, replacing those engines is extremely annoying/expensive in comparison to a manual window, and they are always way cheaper. That said I know how to do everything manual so I guess I am bias.

In general at least in my area owning a manual is way cheaper.. Gas too if you know how to drive economically.
