You understand what happens when we do variance, right? People still know when the mob is coming, there is just a +/- x hours window for the mob to spawn. The only difference between last night and implemented variance is that you'll have maybe 1-3 mobs in window, as opposed to everything being in window like it was last night.

Variance isn't going to help other guilds get targets. If no one but nihilum got targets last night, there is an entirely different problem going on than what you're describing.
Derubael, and everyone else talking about variance in this thread, you can't hold one night as a tell all on how a new system will work.

Right now the entire server is feeding one guild all the raid targets. They can do this at scheduled times and it is very convenient. It is so convenient players can log in once a week and knock things out. Yes, I get that when the server came back up they mobilized quickly and took everything out with the resistance doing nothing, the problem is that there is no real resistance at this time.

If there was variance maybe the top 25 people carrying the entire 50-60 people would get sick of it. Maybe making the raid times take 2-3x as long would stop people from building up that DKP and start their own guild. The current system motivates players to log in like zombies and feed Nizzar raid targets. One night of variance isn't going to do it. If you make raiding tougher the people doing the work will get fed up and things will change eventually.

if players are logging on once a week to down raid targets then logging off, whats the problem?
that theres no dragons left for you? QQ
theres other ways to have fun in norrath, ADAPT

Variance on a blue server will work different than on a red if ya think about it, and i don't give a shit if its put in or not.

On blue people can just sit around all day waiting for the pop, on red, people would want to wait around but will end up pvping.

Until the server is around long enough that alts are lvled up to be able to log out at safe spots and track dragons to see if they are up.

If you do not see in almost every persons sig responding in these threads they have not 1,2,3 sometimes 5 lvl 60s

The raiding scene just needs to be made tougher any way you look at it. People putting in 5 hours a week shouldn't be dominating the server.

40 people playing 5 hours a week shouldn't be able to beat a skilled group of 20 players that play 20 hours a week. The current system is not what classic Everquest was meant to be. This server has turned into a blue server, everyone can agree there, but then even the PvE is trivialized.

The current members in Nihilum look at this like everyone else wants to grief them, but honestly as Nihilum try to look at it from others perspective. When you are playing the game at 75 population and all of a sudden 40 people log in, with names you don't recognize, and every meaningful mob is taken down within a few hours it annoys others.

The 75 people already playing the game is the only real community and some unknown zerg invades the server once a week to devour meaningful content. For the people that actually play the game every day and enjoy it this EQ server has been reduced to a PvE game with no raiding. The game truly ends at level 60 where on other servers that is when the fun begins.
