Btw, once again had everything I said about homelessness and drugs validated

Request today from black mom living in section 8 housing, put her teenage daughter through multiple rehabs trying to get her to stop with the drugs, kid kept relapsing. Mom kicked her out at 18, kid has been couch surfing with friends and doing meth and fentanyl for the past yr, now 19

Mom lets her in due to pity from the heat on the previous rules no drug use while living there. Kid immediately goes out and does meth, gets paranoid staying up all night, admits the drug use to mom (this kid is an open book)

Mom calls me to assist her to a rehab. I have a route all set up, all she has to do is agree. Girl said she did a rehab in the past. I’m like “really? Ok so let’s do it again”, mom said “nah she walked out 2 days in”

I ask why she left, girl says “Ima be real with you, I wanted to get high”. She says nope to rehab now again, knowing mom is kicking her out for not going (again). I came at her from every angle, reminding her that a lot of the homeless wandering our skid row area never had a family like hers (both her and mom admitted she has a large and supportive family, just not about drug use). She still said nope

She was recently arrested for possession and was offered rehab as a deferment. So no jail or prison. And mom says “she doesn’t follow through with what the courts ask her to do, and every time they catch her, she always has drugs on her, so it’s repeated possession charges”

Everything I say about how drug abusers don’t just go right to jail or prison, it’s by ignoring everything requested of them that gets them there. And how rehabs suck because people can just walk out whenever they get a craving. All based on stuff I hear every day. Kid was left locked out of the house on the phone with her drug hookup to come pick her up.

80% of the agency’s requests this week were about people using meth and/or fentanyl

Tough situation. Very few 18/19 year olds are going to have the wisdom and force of will it requires to beat an addiction once it has set in... without losing years of their life to it.

Fucks with (temporarily) the reasoning part of the brain too. I still figured she could reason (and this was an angle I tried) that her mom told me she already has a warrant out for her arrest for missing court and not doing anything requested of her (which was mostly rehab). So by going to rehab now, she avoids a potential arrest in the very near future

Still, no, and she knows enough about client counselor privilege that I cannot & will not turn her in for her warrant. Whether her mom does, is up the mom. I think it could go 50/50, I’m not allowed to tell her what she should do but the mom and her place were very well put together, mom seemed completely sober and with it. She might just turn the kid in, I dunno

But even with jail looming, still no. She never offered why, I’m left assuming she thinks she can just avoid getting caught again from here on out

Cool! But do they chemically castrate children with exogenous hormones and chemicals? That's kind of the important part.

Nobody has a problem with just being nice to people who are a little eccentric in how they present themselves.

I also doubt the eccentrics in those cultures ran around shrieking and physically threatening anyone who doesn't "accommodate" them. The modern western gender activists are some of the most hateful and narcissistic people I've ever seen in my life.
