That is true. But its becoming increasingly obvious that N. Korea won't last forever because it is literally the worse government in the world. And while China probably doesn't think the population would be that useful -- they might prefer this to N. Korea just being an extension to South Korea.

From where I stand, It appears that China will have to do something about N. Korea before America does. Otherwise, they will lose all influence in the region.

You gotta be joking... It's just as Poke pointed out, it's a buffer state. As I said pages back on day one, China OWNS NK. What makes you think China doesn't already influence NK and what they say and do? Now this leader seems to be a problem, but he isn't going to stain the good reputation (lol) of China and shamefully drive them from regional domination. You get this stuff off of MTV still? More and more I'm looking at Trump through the lense of the Republican's Obama. They want to believe his shit and looked the part and all -- but its becoming obvious that he isn't going to actually deliver much. Meanwhile the media isn't even giving him a chance (similar to Fox with Obama).

There is a lot of complaining recently over his confused Foreign Policy. Just as there was lots of talk about Obama's weak FP. The thing is: Americans need to decide wtf they want. Do we want to keep as much power as possible or allow a less America-as-hedgemony to take place around the world?

There has been this kind of Rand Paul libertarian streak among the Republicans -- but the rest seem hungry for a demonstration that America is still number 1. Meanwhile the peace wing of the Democrats has long been completely dis-empowered by the pro-military wing of the party.

IF we want to maximize our power/hold on the world. There are ways to go about it.

IF we want to go "America First" as a more "isolationist" or less imperial path, then there are ways to go about that.

But so far both Trump and Obama want to do both at once. It isn't working very well. Poor results notwithstanding, they aren't getting enough feedback from the American people what kind of global presence they want. Most believe that the people are too stupid to have an opinion about foreign policy and its a problem for the elite anyway. I would like not to believe that if possible.

What I'm trying to say is they have power over NK now (although they are probably annoying to work with). And that state has been useful as a vote and buffer. But the whole of international opinion is against North Korea and China's protecting of North Korea. Eventually they will have to overthrow North Korea's government themselves -- which would completely unravel the deep state of North Korea that centers around a heroic cult of personality (where Kim is a God protecting North Koreans against the horrors of the wider world).

That being said it was stupid for me to say annex rather than puppet. There isn't a lot of reason for China to try to call N. Korea China in the future. But if they don't do something we will and they will lose. At least that's how I see it. Keep in mind this could all take quite awhile to develop.

Shouldn't take long at all, we're not nation building. If Trump starts to nation build I'll get pissed. I hated that about Bush and 0bama, it's a globalist thing now. You just smash them and make sure their next dictator doesn't hate your guts but learns from the mistakes of the previous leaders untimely demise.

I don't think China is going to do shit. My absolute best guess for real why there are Russian and Chinese troops on the border is to push back refugees as the govt deteriorates at least briefly. As long as we don't 1. send a plume of radiation into China 2. as long as we limit the operation to tactical strikes short of invasion. I'm still guessing Xi and Trump already had an agreement, but you never know, may not be worth the air it was verbalized upon.
