My friend had covid and later got vax.

He since vax had an asthma attack so severe he had to have a ride in the big meemaw car for the first time to the hospital (a precaution he didn’t even need when he was covid positive).

I wonder how these facts relate - the media had given me the impression the vax reduced long term covid symptoms.

That's correct but not in the way that you're thinking. Remember a vaccine is preventative, not curative. If your pal had covid, the damage is already done. The those who catch covid after being vaccinated show less dangerous symptoms and less long term effects from the virus, as your body is more able to fight the infection with the double dosage.
