Don't they make you like... live 6 months or whatever as a woman before they can even give you hormones? Read somewhere they had all these legal hoops for trans people to jump through before they prescribed anything. Which might be a good thing, to limit the number of people who later on regret what they've done.

No, generally it's 3 months of mandatory therapy before they write you a letter of recommendation. Without that letter, no doctor is gonna write you hormones. Every place is different, according to WPATH that's usually the deal. Or, you can dangerously self medicate and buy them online.. A ton of people do that.
