There has never been a successful revolution based on talking.

I never know where you draw the line between trolling and genuine absurdity; it's clearly not between real life and forumquest because you own--and presumably sometimes wear--a fucking keffiyeh.

And I just mean the British people were very good at governing and being a part of a stable, relatively functional social compact, and it has helped a lot. They were willing to talk instead of throw a brick to a much greater extent than some other cultures-- Europe and beyond.

Sure it's super easy to have a stable state when 3/4 of the world performs slave labor to provide you goods bro.
I'm talking about internally, in terms of maintaining the integrity of the state. Of course they are going to go abuse brown people the world over, just like we do today. But back at home, people tended to solve problems by talking before they resorted to brick-throwing. That relative domestic stability helped them go out and subjugate effectively.

This is about the effectiveness of talking before you chimp out. Being a large, brutal empire sucks in certain ways, but it's not very relevant. The state was stable before it "enslaved 3/4 of the world" anyway, and long after. It's about what goes into keeping your evil empire together, not the evil things it does.

I actually have a close personal relationship with my conception of Jesus. Dude was a pretty awesome guy who loved the poor and hated rich banker/priests.

I don't believe any of the mumbo jumbo, but rather take the stories about him as secular fables or parables from which to learn.
