Gov. Ralph Northam said that a baby born alive could be “kept comfortable” and then “resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired” – the implication being that the baby could be left to die if the family decided they did not want to keep their child.

“In this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” Northam said. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

He also emphasized that the decision to allow babies to die should be left to “the mothers and their providers.”

While he attempted to veil his argument around "deformed or non-viable fetuses", it is opening the door to post-birth abortion discussions. Remember, abortion used to be called "Safe, legal, and rare". Historically speaking it isn't difficult to see how abortion has progressed since then.

You don't need to be a "Trumptard" or "Fox Viewer" to listen to this video and raise an eyebrow. Unless you have the same distain for human life as Gravy I guess. This is a Governor of the United States talking, not some crackpot small time politician in a no-name town.

Yes, and so was the initial argument for abortion in general. Remember "Rare, safe, and legal"? Last time I checked, that isn't the standard for abortion in 2022. That is why I said "it is opening the door".

Of course they aren't going to go directly to post-abortion in all circumstances, that isn't how the game is played. You start with the rare case, and expand from there, as abortion has done.

If you have read recent history you would understand why this is a valid concern. This is a pretty common political tactic.
