What do you guys think about Fish and Mercury exposure? My guy reaction is: Bullshit... you would have to be eating 3 meals a day of whale meat to get negative effects of mercury.

But maybe I'm missing something. It seems to me like there are people all over the world eating fish more than twice a week with no trace of mercury poisoning.

Meanwhile fish is the best way to get lots of protein with only a small amount of (mostly very healthy) fat. Eating fish has also been proven to make you more sophisticated and intelligent, and at least six times more likely to own a home by the coast.

I follow the 2x a week or less crowd, but its not exactly my favorite food. Usually just canned tuna, occasionally I'll bake some salmon.

Fish used to make me violently ill just at the smell.

Once in France I ordered a pizza with 'everything'; big mistake! I didn't realise as I ate it, but it became obvious on the way back up it had included fish. Gross!

Happily, the smell of fish has become less nauseating, so much so that a couple of years ago I was able to eat a whole fish finger! Since then I was able to eat fish and chips at Rich Stein's and another fish dish the later year.

TLDR, after being intolerant I now manage to enjoy one fish dish a year. I'm really happy about this because being unable to eat fish all those years made me feel that I was rather missing out.

this is a really neat story ^^ it sucks that you were unable to eat fish for so long, but super neat that you kept trying and ultimately were able to overcome it. to me it demonstrates openness. there are LOTS of people who refuse to try or eat many foods simply because they dont liek them even though they don't have any real issue with it. to me that is super childish, close-minded and as you pointed out, limiting.

I still have a hard time eating nattou, Chinese mustard and to a lesser degree wasabi, but that is about it (out of normal foods). Only the nattou make me a little nauseous, the others are just unpleasant. My thought has always been, if i didn't dislike certain foods, it would be easier for me to be happy wherever I go :3

The existence of real fish in a fish finger is debatable. Chicken nuggets, fish fingers, hotdogs... Might all be just stuff they scrape from the garbage pails.

But muscles are best developed with barbells IMO.
disagree i only use barbell for rows, outside of dumbbells. anything else that can benefit from a barbell like shoulder press or incline pressing is done by smith machine.

barbells confirmed irrelevant

It is not paleo. Paleo doesn't allow as many beans, whole grains, or healthy roots. Paleo tries to get trigger the body to run off ketosis.

This is just eating smart like all people that want to stay fit for a living. Nothing special -- no biological trick.

If you can get your fat intake to 30% -- that's the sweet spot for peaking your natural testosterone. Less fat in diet or more will cause it to drop.

You obviously need lots of protein, but its best to try to spread it out over 5-6 meals with moderate amounts since you can only absorb so much.

While lots of carbs is lots of calories and lots of fat storage later, moderate amounts of carbs laden with fiber give you lots of energy without preventing weight loss (or causing weight gain).

You start slowing down on weight loss and cardio when you pick up strength training. It's not a horrible idea to just do cardio and diet and lose weight if you are very obese...but you do lose muscle with fat unless you are doing a str training program.

But its hard to gain strength and lose fat fast. It's a bit more gradual than just literally running your ass off. But the results are more impressive. Being really skinny (esp as a dude) is not great. Need a bit of muscle.

Basically the opposite of what you said is true. Smith machine is good for inverted row only. Otherwise its better to balance the weight with your muscles.

Do you know about iso vs compound movements? I do a lot of iso workouts and I'm pretty big; or as big as I want to be, but I see some skinny fuckers at the gym who are way stronger. I'm not sure if it's age, genetics, or me doing the wrong workouts.
