And I think Cobble's post was a bit of hyperbole. The goal of the class system was to open content to the masses and I don't think anyone can say that the system hasn't at least done that.

The FFA cycle was meant to help class R guilds grow and eventually advance towards class C but their (class C) raid scene is so off-putting that no class R guild will make that leap, nor should they be forced to. I'm sure the staff didn't expect TMO to gobble up FE and then have that motherfucker turn into FrapsQuest/PetitionQuest. If anything the FFA cycle was the real failure and I think Sirken even agreed with that to a point.

Some possible solutions would be to remove the FFA portion entirely or maybe having all FFA mobs spawning simultaneously making it into a tiny repop scenario where guilds have to prioritize targets.

Sure, for a select number of targets for a limited duration. The class C mindset is 100% every target every time specifically to step on the neck of any competition. Not the mindset that the class R guilds have. Why are we having this conversation? It always boils down to this.

Also, they are too afraid to break the rotation and be viewed as the other guilds that have tried to compete for Class-R mobs have been.

I think you're getting some bad information then. BDA has no real interest in Class C as it's currently constituted. Taken might want to eventually go that route since they're more like a class C guild with their push for FFA targets and DKP system, and I think Asgard has said that want to topple the world. I'd say that all the current class R guilds are happy with the current system.

I wasn't claiming they were necessarily 'unhappy' with the current raid system, however I was illuminating that you may be less aware about the ambitions of certain constituents in your class system than you think. Also, I wasn't speaking about BDA or Taken.

Sure, Asgard. They're the class R Tears for Fears, but I wouldn't expect them to utilize the class R system to strengthen up and then smash it to bits once it's ceased to be useful. They've been good citizens so far and I'd expect that trend to maintain.

That's not hypocrisy, that's being forced to play the game at the insane level that class C has perpetuated. And don't get it twisted scuba Steve I fucking hate doing FFA mobs. I bitch when I have to track, I bitch when I stand there waiting for a spawn, I even bitch if we manage to win (Joke goes here) so don't conflate the two. I don't want to do FFA shit but my people sometimes like to test the FFA waters and unfortunately TMO/IB's high tide floats all boats so I'm reduced to doing stupid FFA tactics.
