How it would have happened:
You turn up to a dozen different Velious pixel camps. People already there and staying there for hours/days because of multiple nerdgasms. 80% of people will either be queuing for pixels or just giving it a week or so to settle down.

Velious will bring out the worst in people, no doubt about it.

I'd much rather donate $ to the actual p99 project for early beta access to velious than to donate it to a kickstarter that is 3 years away from a full release. As far as early access to the legitimate velious release after waiting 4 years, that shit is gaaaaay.

Given the current amount of money they have raised, it seems possible that this is not even going to reach the kickstarter goal.
Then there is the issue that Brad has some bad addictions, and a track record of screwing up stuff. Wether they are related, I am unsure. Brad left EQ in the early 2000's, and has since only released "Vanguard: Saga of 2 much brown", which was a complete failure at launch and never recovered. Vanguard barely survived its trainwreck launch, and only could so after Sigil sold it dirt-cheap to SoE - who promtely demoted Brad out of any influential role. Brad had full control over Vanguard, yet it launched as a total failure, not the EQ sequel we all hoped it to be. He already failed at remaking EQ guise. This should be obvious. I'm gonna pass, but I am willing to bet plat this game will vaporware. In fact I'd go yolo-all-in-elbow-deep on that bet. | ||

Shh, you're not supposed to acknowledge that he has done nothing but release one failed game in over a decade.
