I spend a good bit of time fairly close to the CDC, that's my best shot at an early death in this scenario. Actual blast/shockwave or some horrid virus that gets released into the air if the bottom layers get cracked open. I can't think of anything else of major strategic value in the area.

Theres an amazing video of the initial russian invasion that shows their entire strat. It was to just kill civliians and hope they all just lock their doors and let them have free reign of the country.
