Let's try this a different way

Fellas here with gf/wife: if she got a job offer where she was gonna make more than you, how would you react?

Assume you don't have to move or anything. Nothing otherwise changes about your daily life.

Yeah, you ever share stories like this off the internet?
Yes, frequently

Not at first.

So what? Anyone care to tell me what is inherently wrong with this?

You gonna dump your lady if she makes more than you?

Feel proud that you are supporting your wife to be the best she can be. Don't let us internet posters ruin it just because some of us don't respect you for it.

So, fellas: would you leave your girl if she suddenly made more than you?

When my wife and I were younger she made more than I did for awhile because she picked one line of work (nursing) and stuck with it while I changed paths several times. Didn't care. Later on I made more than she did. Still didn't care. Now she's sick and can't work at all and can't do a ton around the house either, I care that she's sick but still don't care about the money side of it.

I know some men who care as well as some women who care. I also know a few dudes who marvel I stay with my "useless" (not my word) wife when I could divorce her, dump the "deadweight" and shack up with some healthy woman a decade younger. I don't understand them at all, and they don't seem to understand why their suggestion makes me angry.

Think we're a little off topic for degrees and student debt. The wife and I managed to both stay out of student debt. That was part of the reason she took off faster than I did out the gate--never wanted to go deeply into debt so I took longer getting going, especially after hamgstringing myself by changing fields a couple times.
